Hi! My name is Kya, and I graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia with my B.S. in Neuroscience! While in school, I proctored exams for students with testing accomodations, and I have virutally tutored students in K-8 for 5+ years. I have always loved teaching, writing, and neuroscience; therefore, I wanted to create fun, easy way to spread STEM knowledge, especially by introducing it at a young age.
I have always had the goal of inspiring others, so I initially completely wrote and designed this book myself, then signed to a publication company! I hope you love and share this book, so we can introduce STEM to all young learners.
Whether you're a kid, (prospective) medical student, in the medical field, teacher, parent, or just about anything else, I hope this book inspires you in some way.
Beginning at age 11, I shadowed Dr. Greg Mertz at the Odd Pet Vet, a hospital for exotic animals. The branch resides inside the New England Wildlife Center, which also functions as a non-profit rehabilitation hospital for injured or orphaned wildlife.
I returned to this internship twice during college, these times working mainly in the wildlife rehabilitation side. I gained exceptional hands-on medical experience and knowledge throughout my summers here, both which can be applied to human and veterinary medicine. As education and teaching have always been an important part of my life, I also taught educational tours in the hospital's nature center to school field trips, showcasing the various features of STEM, nature's unique abilities, and animal rehabilitation.
Throughout highschool, I found myself wanting to learn more about medicine and its incredible vastness. I started volunteering in the local hospital's ICU and front desk, gaining both medical and hospitality experience, both of which are needed in the field of medicine.
My love for medicine continued as I entered college, seeking out my dream major of "Neuroscience". Alongside the wildlife internship, I shadowed several specialties including interventional radiology, endocrinology, and oncology in the hospital and clinics.
I love my degree and recently graduated! This book and wesbite are my next goals along with medical school. Thank you for taking the time to read my book and/or browse my website!
Please share this book with anyone you know so we can change the world of STEM and never stop learning!
I have also created STEM reading comprehension exercises and an english grammar worksheets "course." (TBA) Corresponding video solutions will be linked for review.
